THRILLING CLOSING NIGHT AT ARSENAL 07, WITH SKINDRED, DUB FX, RAMBO AMADEUS, DAMIR URBAN

Arsenal Fest 07 ended in the early morning hours Sunday after a night of music thrills, delivered by Skindred, Dub FX, Rambo Amadeus, Damir Urban, Goblini, Škrtice, Kralj Čačka and other performers.
The third festival night had attendance of 10.000, while the festival as a whole attracted more than 30.000 people with headliners such as Anthrax, Thievery Corporation, Buzzcocks, Kerber and Darko Rundek.
“ Headlining @arsenalfest for our first ever show in Serbia. Brilliant night!! Thanks every one of you!”, was the message posted by Anthrax on their Facebook page, while Ana Popović, on her page wrote: “ My view last night at Arsenal FEST. Serbia’s got some cool & hip festivals and Arsenal is one of the best! Hvala svima!” https://www.facebook.com/AnaPopovicMusic/
After Skindred had started to play, the concertgoers quickly filled a huge space in front of the Main Stage. The heavy rockers from Wales, who fuse metal with hip-hop, reggae and other genres, proved themselves again as a tour-de-force live act. They started their set with Under Attack, with other notable songs being Pressure, Rat Race, Kill the Power and their biggest hit to date – Nobody.
“I don’t care if you’re black or white, muslim, gay… People of Serbia, tonight we celebrate life!” said Skindred’s charismatic leader Bangee from the stage. After the gig, Skindred wrote on their Facebook page: “You made this weekend one to remember. You were great!” https://www.facebook.com/skindredofficial/
The next to perform on the Main Stage was Dub FX, a music sensation from Australia. It took just one vocal, an FX pedal and a loop machine to make a former street singer’s performance a breathless listen that lasted for 90 minutes. When drum’n’bass elements came to the fore in Dub FX’s genre mix, reactions of the audience were the strongest.
“Thank you, Kragujevac! Excellent night in Serbia!” Dub FX has stated on his Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/dubfx/
Serbian supergroup Škrtice, led by Zoran Kostić Cane, the singer of Partibrejkers, opened the festival program on the Main Stage, and much unlike Partibrejkers, members of Škrtice never bothered to speak to their audience in between the songs. Kanda Kodža i Nebojša (featuring Hornsman Coyote) had the closing gig, and Coyote’s appearance was met with roaring approval from the crowd.
“The last time I was so sober on the stage was 10 years ago, but I feel good thanx to you”, said Oliver Nektarijević, the frontmen of KKN.
Damir Urban and Rambo Amadeus were THE stars of the final Arsenal’s night on the Garden Stage – judging from the audience reaction. For their first gig in Kragujevac, Urban & 4 opted to play a selection of their greatest hits: Ruke, Kundera, Nebo, Odlučio sam da te volim… Urban had to delegate his vocal duties to the crowd for his classic Budi moja voda.
Garden remained jam-packed in the early morning hours of Sunday, when Rambo Amadeus entered the stage to play his jazz and blues set, infused with some old hits. Goblins, who were the last to play in the Garden, still had a respectable attendance with first rays of sunlight. Kralj Čačka (King of Čačak on Serbian) might as well pronounce himself King of Kragujevac for ecstatic reactions he prompted, especially for his song Deda Mraz je švorc.
Špajz had the opening gig in the Garden, which was followed by a terrific performance by Raskid 13. Bolesna štenad (Sick Puppies on Serbian) entered the stage dressed as dangerous dogs, but masks were dropped “because it was too hot” after the first song. Electro Vampires, a gothic band from Thessaloniki, Greece, played in Serbia for the first time, and were greeted – especially for their rendition of The Doors’ classic LA Woman.
Spirits were high at the Explosive DJ Stage, and numerous up-and-coming bands played their best songs on the Demolition Stage for the third consecutive night.
